Transatlantic passengers flying from London to New York, will soon be able to make in-flight phone calls using their own devices, it has been reported.

Passengers flying with Virgin Atlantic will be able to make calls by ‘the end of 2012′. However, it is thought that only 20 planes will encorporate this feature.

Virgin also stated that only 6 passengers at a time will be allowed to make calls, although the reasoning behind this limit is still unknown.

This isn’t something new however. Other airlines have been offering in-flight voice calls and internet services since 2008, and with no maximum customer limit.

Mobile phone users have in the past been banned from accessing roaming features (2G/3G) due to safety concerns regarding the radio signals that could interfere with the air-planes on-board navigation systems.

Virgin haven’t commented on whether this service will be free to all customers or whether it will only be for business class customers, although the 6 passenger limit for a 300 seater Airbus A330 is likely to result in the feature being for premium customers only.

We get asked weekly how we get so many referrals for FreebieJeebies and Kudos Network.

Most people assume that it’s down to this very site, and getting it ranked for key terms such as ‘Free iPhone 4S’ or ‘Free iPhone’. Well, we actually get very few from iPaidNothing. Instead, most of our referrals come from the following:

Friends and family

If you’re new to this, or if you’ve been doing this for years and have never asked, then don’t miss this chance! Your friends and family are a great quick fire source for referrals. You see, when most people sign up, there’s an element of trust. They might think that it’s all a scam, and don’t want to trust just a ‘website’. But if you’re signing up through someone you know, then that barrier is eradicated. If it goes wrong, then they know who to blame! (…it won’t!).

If you’re getting family to sign up, then make sure that they don’t live in the same household or sign up using the same IP Address. All of the freebie networks only allow one account per household/IP to stop people from creating two accounts.

Facebook

Pretty similar to the above, except you’re using an existing platform to advertise. Make sure that you present yourself as true as you possibly can. We all know how much spam their is on the web, such as those ‘auto-posting status thingys’ that clutter up Facebook with messages such as: ‘Hey, I’ve just tried blah blah blah, you should try it to’.

If you make your message similar to these, then people will just ignore it. Make your message human, and don’t force it.

Online Shopping

Whenever I sell things on eBay or other selling sites, I always include a letter head explaining my site along with the package/item. Not only is it a great way to present yourself as a trusted seller, but also you’re taking a real-life situation (the selling of goods) and using it to sell. Think about the adverts on the back of receipts. You’ve just bought something from this shop, so you evidently trust them. Now they’re going to use this to sell more to you.

Overall, it’s about using your head. The best ways are the ways that haven’t been thought of. The above three are just classics that will always work, no matter what.

In a blog post sent out on Wednesday, Facebook announced it’s new App Center.

The company boasts that the new center will be the place to find apps including mammoth titles such as Draw Something, which became a huge hit earlier this year.

Although a vast majority of the Apps available will be free, developers will still have the oppurtunity to charge for them. The question is though, what stake will Facebook will take. To add some perspective, currently, Apple takes about 30% of the proceeds from every app downloaded.

It is also unclear as to what sort of filtering system will be used on the center. Androids’ download portal came under fire in the last part of 2011 after it was claimed that malware embedded in apps had been downloaded from the store. This was down to loose regulation about the quality of the apps. Furthermore, Apple have been praised for their strict approach, often rejecting apps from developers for even minor offences such as unsynced graphics/music .

Facebook say that the new center will be rolled out in the ‘coming weeks’ with no official launch date set. The launch comes close to the PO of the company, which will result in it maturing under heavily scrutinising shareholders looking for a clean return on their investments.

With Apple’s annual ‘World Wide Developers Conference’ creeping ever nearer, we take a look at some of the speculations, and give you an insight in what to expect from the tech Goliath.

Firstly, don’t expect the iPhone 5. Although in previous years with the iPhone, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 all being released at WWDC, it seems unlikely for Apple to make any note on an updated iPhone.

On the official WWDC page, Apple have titled the event ‘ iOS and OS X’, as well as highlighting the importance of App developers being present. Perhaps we could be seeing an updated SDK? It seems likely for Apple to annouce iOS 6.0 for mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), as well as Mountain Lion OS for Mac. The whole theme of software rather than hardware reflects lasts years similar approach.

We would also quite like to see Apple’s iPod range refreshed. The last update to the line was back in 2011 with the Shuffle 4th gen, Nano 6th gen, and the Touch 4th gen. Here’s a timeline from Wiki showing the release dates of all of the iPod range:

Are you going to WWDC this year? Then why not post your thoughts in the comment section below, on what you think the top feature of this years event will be.

In a blog post on Tuesday (April 24) Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Google’s Chrome division announced the new venture. ”Today, we’re introducing Google Drive – a central place where you can create, share, collaborate and keep all of your stuff.”

The service aims to gain Google a stake in the ever growing cloud storage market. Companies such as Amazon and Apple already offer such services, resulting in critics saying that Google is ‘late’ to the market.

Although the service isn’t yet live, the Google Drive homepage markets that the service will offer up to 5Gb of storage free. The next step up for customers needing more storage, is a 25GB option costing $2.50 per month. A full pricing breakdown can be found at the bottom of this post.

Google say that the service will work seamlessly with other Google products, such as Gmail, Docs and Blogger.

Users will be able to store music, photos, videos and documents on the service, either through a browser, a phone app or a downloadable program. However, unlike Amazons CloudFront service, it seems that websites and online applets will not be able to be stored and run from the service.

Google Drive Costs

25GB for $2.50 pm

100GB for $4.99 pm

1TB for $49.99 pm

16TB for $799.99 pm

In the mean time though, why not get a 1TB Buffalo Hard drive, totally free from iPaidNothing & Kudos Network, by Signing Up today!

If you’ve just arrived at this post from Google, we strongly advise checking out our main homepage first for a bit of background information!

So called referral generators have been around for as long as the freebie networks have been around. But here’s
some information that you may not have known, and that might make you think twice before you use them.

Important bit of information number 1:

They don’t work. It’s as simple as that. Networks such as FreebieJeebies, Kudos Network and Xpango work hard to make sure that people who use the system correctly, get their gifts. If there was such a hack, that allowed you to get as many referrals as you wanted, do you really think that the freebie networks would still be around? No. Of course not. They would have lost so much money by now, that they would be closed.

Important bit of information number 2:

You’re running their software. It’s a classic. You want to get referrals quickly, so you’re duped in to downloading this bit of software that will supposedly make you rich. But the harsh reality, is that most of these programs aren’t going to be good for your system. They’re ridden with viruses, spyware and have been created for one thing. To make money for the programmers. Once they’re in to your computer, they’ll snoop round, and take any bit of information possible. This information can they be sold on to cold callers, spammers, hackers, or any other type of person who is willing to pay a premium for your personal information.

Important bit of information number 3:

You’re making them money. The way in which these generators have been created, is that you download their software, which will then send you to their unique referral address. They’ll then tell you that in order to ‘qualify’ for the referral generator, you’ll need to complete one offer. Then in 24 hours, you’ll have all of the referrals. STOP. Just think about what’s happening. You’re signing up through their referral URL, and completing an offer. In essence, you’ve just made them £17. And guess what, you aint not getting no referrals!

What should you do:

If you see a referral generator, whether it be on a website or a youtube video, you should follow these steps:

1) DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAM.

2) Send an email to the network in question, whether it’s freebiejeebies, kudos network or Xpango. Their contact information can be found in the footer on their respective sites.

Remember, that for every person who signs up through a referral generator, they are making £17 for the spammer. Hundreds of people fall for this type of scam, and if you’re caught up in the loop, then you’ll loose out.
